I threw a coin into the well,
Like I did with every other one
I’ve come across.
And I wished hard.
I wished for you.
I do not believe in wishes
Nor wells and happily-ever-afters
Nor gods and goddesses.
But desperation
Is a very good preacher.
Desperation is not born out
Of a bad hand but jacks and queens
Amidst aces and kings.
It’s within lovers
Fighting for love.
